Issues: Health and Health Care
Our community is a national leader in healthcare, and future laws enacted by the General Assembly must protect and enhance our status as a leader in this field. Achieving this goal requires actions ranging from appropriate funding of UNC Health Care to the proper implementation of Medicaid policies that assist those of modest means. I will actively oppose policies that lead to the rationing or other limiting of health care options, and I will work to repeal our state's anti-competitive certificate of need laws. I will also support greater conscience protections for healthcare workers so that quality medical professionals are not driven from their jobs because of their personal or religious beliefs.
